Previously
Regional Managing Attorney (East Texas) for
Advocacy, Inc. where she represented disabled persons in employment and housing
discrimination cases, students with disabilities in school disciplinary cases,
ticketing cases, and foster care cases.
In her position with Advocacy, Inc., she also provided representation to
persons denied health care in the Harris County Jail, TYC facilities, and other
facilities housing persons with mental disabilities.
Dr. Guidry has also held positions with the
Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) where she was the Supervising
Attorney of the statewide Special Litigation Unit which handled the most
complex cases in the agency, both in jury trials and on appeal.
While
in her role at DEPS, Dr. Guidry was also Special Projects Attorney where she created
statewide standardized training and best practice materials for social workers,
prosecutors and judges, as well as providing legislative analysis to bill that
would potentially impact agency litigation.
Dr. Guidry
has dedicated most herself and her career to the public interest arena
beginning as a Legal Aid Staff Attorney and then subsequently promoted to Supervising
Attorney at Coastal Bend Legal Services. Her credits include authored CLE
articles and Chapters for SBOT Family Law Expert Witness Manual.
It is
this dedication and wealth of expertise that Dr. Guidry lends to CFES as a
board member.
